is a diverse performing guitarist distinguished by a tasteful approach, warm tone and a multi-tongued musical voice that interweaves vocabularies of jazz, soul and americana. He received awards and scholarships to attend Portland State University’s Jazz Studies program where he was simultaneously fostered into the local music community under the wing of renowned pianist and educator Darrell Grant. Throughout Hayden’s studies, and since his 2008 graduation from PSU, he’s garnered vast recognition as one of Portland’s most promising talents. He appears often with jazz luminaries including Tom Grant, Devin Phillips and Shelly Rudolph with whom he’s presently co-producing an upcoming album featuring Grammy winning cellist David Darling. Though his base rests in jazz, Hayden’s mature adaptability keeps him in demand to a broader spectrum of artists. He is an original member of the americana outfit Redwood Son, named “Best New Artist” of the 2011 Portland Music Awards, with whom he co-produced Disc 2: New Beautiful Day of their double CD debut The Lion’s Inside.
Chance’s debut album is underway! Check back around the 15th of the month for a preview alongside the Kickstarter campaign to further this project.
